Congratulations Locust Jones

Our congratulations to Locust Jones on winning the Bold Horizon National Contemporary Art Award 2010.

His winning work, Lozenge of Dawn, will be exhibited at the Waikato Museum, New Zealand with the 32 other finalists until January next year.

BSG Photographic Prize Winners

You may recall we blogged here about Karen judging the Brunswick Street Gallery, Picture This Photographic Prize. We thought we would show you the winning and runner up works...

The winner of the $10,000 prize was Sean O'Carroll, with the work (left), Untitled 1 (From the Series Boys, Guns, Etc?)

The runner up prize went to Narelle Conwell for (left), One is to One Point One Six Eight 1&II

eX de Medici and Ros Atkins

eX de Medici and Ros Atkins have been working on a collaborative project at the Art Vault, Mildura.

Here is a sneak peak at the etchings in their first state. These were produced during a two week residency at Art Vault in early July. The artists have since been working on each others plates and will edition the finished plates back at Art Vault in early January 2011 (each print will be an edition of 20).

We look forward to the finished works!

Kate Rohde and Romance was Born exhibition

You may recall we blogged a little while ago about Kate Rohde's collaboration with fashion label Romance Was Born for RAFW 2010.

We are excited to announce an exhibition of these collaborative works in the gallery from 25 August - September 18. Save the date - the show promises to be a celebration of colour and the spectacular!

Michael Doolan: Supermaker

Michael Doolan has been commissioned by Craft Victoria as part of the Craft Cubed festival as their inaugural Super Maker.

Super Maker is a large-scale, public art commission created by an established craft practitioner. Michael Doolan will present Once Upon a Time, a large scale, inflatable sculpture suspended above the viewer in Federation Square’s Atrium. It will be Melbourne’s most ambitious public craft commission to date.

Supermaker: Michael Doolan, Once Upon a Time has been curated by Joe Pascoe. The installation will be on display in the Fed Square Atrium from 26 July until 25 August. It will be special so don't miss it!

Karen Woodbury Gallery is very pleased to announce we now represent Aida Tomescu in Melbourne.

We will be showing new works by Aida at the Melbourne Art Fair (4-8 August) followed by a solo exhibition of new paintings and works on paper at Karen Woodbury Gallery from 20 October - 13 November.

Karen will be judging the Picture This Open Photographic Prize at Brunswick Street Gallery this evening.

The winner will be announced at 7:15pm and will take home a $10,000 prize.

Locust Jones - Hill End residency 2011

Locust Jones will be artist in residence at Hill End - Haefligers cottage from 1 March - 31 March 2011.
