INVIDEO 2011

Magda Matwiejew's new work "Wasp Waist" has been selected to participate in INVIDEO 2011 in November in Milan, Italy.

INVIDEO is an International Exhibition of Video Art and Cinema Beyond, organised since 1990 by A.I.A.C.E. in Milan, represents a reference point for non fictional video in Italy and has established itself as an international benchmark for the full range of audiovisual production connected to electronic art and new technologies.

Magda Matwiejew | Wasp Waist

We thought we would share a few images from Magda Matwiejew's newest video work Wasp Waist ("Taille de guĂȘpe") which was completed in April 2011.

The work has been selected in the 2011 Videoholica International Video Art Festival in Varna, Bulgaria, from August 5-12.

Magda Matwiejew: Black Box White Cube

Magda Matwiejew features in Black Box White Cube a free exhibition that explores the creative intersections between art and performance in contemporary Australian art at the Arts Centre. Starting with performance art from the 1970s, the exhibition captures the vitality that music and dance, staged photography and film, theatricality and the spectacle of performance infuse into contemporary Australian art. Current until September 25.

Magda Matwiejew: Female Eye Film Festival

Magda Matwiejew's film Pretty Ballerina has been nominated for the best Experimental Film at the Female Eye Film Festival in Toronto, Canada.

The Female Eye Film Festival is an annual event - now in it's 9th year - that celebrates female directors from around the world.

The festival will run from March 16 - 20.

Magda Matwiejew: reviews and awards

If you haven't had an opportunity to get in and see Magda's exhibition, En Pointe, today is the last day.

The exhibition has been a great success with Magda's film Pretty Ballerina shortlisted as a finalist for the best Experimental Film in the general industry section at the 2010 Atom Awards.

The show has also received lots of coverage in the media. Most recently dedece have blogged about the exhibition, as well as a review in Lip Magazine .

Karen Woodbury Gallery is open from 11am until 5pm.
