Through your eyes

Locust Jones is a part of an exciting cultural exchange project 'Through your eyes' which is currently being held at the Korean Cultural Office in Sydney and will run until the 29th of June 2012.

'Through your eyes' is the product of a cultural exchange project which aims to explore the reciprocal relationship between Korean and Australian artists and how each is influenced by the other.

Locust will participate in an artist talk on Thursday the 3rd of May @ 6.30 pm. This would be a fantastic opportunity to receive an insight into his work and his experience participating in the cultural exchange.

Locust Jones @ Bathurst Regional Art Gallery

Locust Jones is holding a solo exhibition at Bathurst Regional Art Gallery, that runs from 20 January and continues until 11 March.

The exhibition is accompanied by a comprehensive exhibition catalogue with an interview style essay by our very own Gallery Manager, Rachael Watts.

Locust Jones exhibits in Dusseldorf, Germany

Locust Jones will exhibit new work in Germany at Kunstraum Dusseldorf.

The exhibition 'Top Dead, 2010' opens on 4 November and continues until 13 November.

Locust Jones features on this Sunday's Art Nation on ABC 1 from 5pm, ABC 2 9.50pm.

On the programme Locust talks about his concerns about contemporary international politics and issues via the voice of his practice.

The current issue of Artist Profile is a feast for the eyes in more ways than one!

Locust Jones: Art for literacy

Gallery artist Locust Jones along with other well known Australian artists and a group of teens from Lurnea High School will participate in the exhibition, Subtext: Art for Literacy presented by the Australian Literacy & Numeracy Foundation at Carriageworks.

The centrepiece of the show is an impressive 25m long canvas that Jones worked on with 21 students from East Turkestan, Iraq, Vietnam, Sudan, Argentina and Thailand. The work came together over a series of 5 workshops where the stories of the students were translated onto the canvas.

Australian Art Collector has released their annual 50 issue with the list of 50 of Australia's most collectable artists 2011. We are pleased to note that several of our artists were on the list, including:

Earlier this year, gallery artist Locust Jones undertook an Asialink residency in Seoul, Korea.

The works he made during that time have been exhibited recently at Whitespace in Auckland.

Congratulations Locust Jones

Our congratulations to Locust Jones on winning the Bold Horizon National Contemporary Art Award 2010.

His winning work, Lozenge of Dawn, will be exhibited at the Waikato Museum, New Zealand with the 32 other finalists until January next year.

Locust Jones - Hill End residency 2011

Locust Jones will be artist in residence at Hill End - Haefligers cottage from 1 March - 31 March 2011.

We look forward to seeing the resulting works from his time there!

Locust Jones - Waikato Museum

Locust Jones has been selected for the Waikato Museum Bold Horizon National Contemporary Art Award 2010 - a showcase of the best contemporary art from New Zealand.

Rachel Kent, Senior Curator, Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney is the judge for this year's prize.

The exhibition will run from 7 August 2010 - 9 January 2011.

Locust Jones has been selected for the Paul Guest Prize, Bendigo Art Gallery.

The winner of the Paul Guest Prize will be announced Friday 13 August.

Locust Jones: selected for the Noosa Regional Gallery 3D travelling Scholoarhip

Locust Jones' work, Shark Globe 2010, has been selected for the Noosa Regional Gallery Travelling Scholarship.

The official opening and announcement of the winner will take place, 6pm Friday 6 August.
